When I was doing research on how to promote my new book, many articles stated that one of the most important things to do was to engage with my readers using a mailing list.
Obviously, this is an option that requires you to put in a lot of time and effort, as you have to create valuable content month after month in order for it to be worthwhile. But if you can do it, this is a tool that has a lot of potential for good feedback and promotion, both for now and for future projects.
So, I decided to start setting things up! I already had a Mailchimp account and knew how to set up the signup form on my website, so I did just that. I am now in the process of creating a template for my emails. I plan to send one email per month, and to include in those email exclusive tips, thoughts and insight that extend on the topics that were touched on in the book.
It’ll be a lot of work, but I think I can do it well if I’m prepared and organized.
